Virginia Irene Spraw's Obituary
Virginia Irene Spraw "Ginny", 97, of Tavares, FL, went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2025. Virginia was born on December 9, 1928, in New Castle, PA, to her loving parents; Chester and Ethyl (Thomas) Minick.
Virginia married the love of her life, Carl Spraw, in 1985, and the two moved to Florida in 1993. The couple regularly attended services at Tavares Community Church and were quite active in their community. Ginny was a social butterfly and a member of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Club Chapter Mary Ellen Robertson. She was also an active member of the TOPS Group at Highland Lakes.
Ginny enjoyed spending her time crocheting, reading, and playing Mahjong and card games like Hand and Foot. Ginny had a remarkable memory and was very intelligent, very similar to her dear grandfather who was a pilot and taught her how to fly planes with him when she was a child. She often shared detailed stories of her childhood and due to her amazing memory, never forgot anyone's name.
Virginia will be missed dearly and remembered fondly, particularly for her strength and perseverance. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of extraordinary courage in the face of hard times as a single mother of three young children. Through this bout, she found love and peace in a strong marriage of 39 years with Carl. To her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren she will remain a pillar of strength, stability and love.
Virginia is preceded in passing by her loving husband of 39 years, Carl, a beloved son, Dave and her parents; Chester and Ethyl Minick.
Virginia is survived by her children; John (Linda) and Roberta (Bob), stepchildren; David (Charmaine), Sharon and Tim (Ryanne), five grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
