Steven Jensen's Obituary
Steven Jensen, of Yalaha, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, at the age of 67 while vacationing in Mexico. He was born to Bob and Yvette Jensen on July 13, 1957 in St Margaret's Hospital in Hammond, Indiana. Steve grew up in Illinois and later lived in Las Vegas and Orlando before retiring to Yalaha four years ago.
Steve was a dedicated Lead Auto Technician for 50 years. He was proud of his work and known for his ability to fix anything. He was a beloved member of The Springs Community in Yalaha, where he was known to neighbors and friends for his helpful nature and willingness to assist those in need. Steve often responded to problems with the water system and helped on neighbor's projects. He had a passion for boating, riding his two Harley Davidsons, and karaoke. Steve also loved to cook, and experienced great joy sharing his food with those he cared about. He is celebrated for his homemade salsa, bread, and salads. Steve was at home in the kitchen, making food for others to express his love.
Steve had a large presence and a smile that was unmistakable, even though he wasn't a big talker. His wife, Denise DaCosta, whom he was married to for five short years, remembers him with joy, singing "You Are So Beautiful" to her during their karaoke outings. Their time together was heartbreakingly brief, but their love was special and they enjoyed their shared retirement, living every day as Saturday.
Steve is preceded in death by his father, Bob. He is survived by his wife, Denise; his mother, Yvette; his sons, Nickolas (and his wife Jessi) and Erick; his daughter, Dana Jensen; his brother, Tom Jensen; his sisters, Ann Needham (and her husband Vic) and Pat Wilson (and her husband Rick); his cherished granddaughters, Aria and Alaia; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends and neighbors.
Steve's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and is surely singing to us all from above.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Steve's name to A Forever Home Animal Rescue (www.aforeverhomeanimalrescue.org) or Bikers Against Child Abuse (https://bacaworld.org/florida/)
