Romund Andrew Madson's Obituary
Romund Madson passed away on September 1, 2022, at age 98, after falling and seriously injuring himself the previous week. He came close to achieving his stated goal of living to age 100.
Born in 1924 in Lewistown, MT, Romund enlisted in the Army Air Corps (USAF) during WWII. He became a fighter pilot and flew as a Flying Tiger, battling over east Asia.
After the war, Romund earned his mechanical engineering degree at the University of North Dakota. As a sales manager covering the Southeastern US, Romund and wife Harriet began building a family together. He joined 3M where he spent the rest of his career in the adhesives and coating division.
Romund and Harriet enjoyed a long, healthy retirement in South Florida. He is predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Harriet, daughter Dr. Katherine Madson and son Rolf Madson. Romund is survived by daughters The Rev. Gail Madson, Alea Collins (Rick), Karen Peterson (David), daughter-in-law Judy Madson, son John Madson (Kris), honorary daughter Dena Hornby and 10 wonderful grandchildren.
A fearless fixer of almost anything, Romund will be remembered as a loving husband, patient father, and affectionate grandfather. Romund was a natural leader, dedicated to a life of service. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
