Murray G. Peters' Obituary
Murray G. “Pete” Peters age 89 passed away at his son’s home in Tifton, Georgia on Friday, March 9, 2012. He was born in Limestone, NY on August 24, 1922 and moved to the Leesburg area in 1964 from East Palestine, Ohio. He was a restaurateur for many years and managed the “Truckers Paradise” truck stop in Wildwood for over 15 years. He then went on to manage the Pro Shop at the Continental Country Club and worked in several other capacities there for the next 12 years. Most recently he worked as a “Greens Keeper” at the Lakes Country Club. He was a proud Veteran of the U. S. Army and served in the Pacific Theater during WW II.He will be fondly remembered as an avid freshwater and saltwater fisherman who was happiest spending time outdoors and on the water. He was also an avid Golfer and well known bowler in the Leesburg area and was a member of the Leesburg Bowling hall of fame. He is pre-deceased by his wife of 62 years Elsie, and his son Murray Lee Peters. He is survived by his sons- Charles R. (Patsy Thompson) Peters – Colorado Springs, CO; and Dennis M. (Debra Gibbs) Peters – Tifton, GA; a brother- Joseph Peters - Bradford, PA; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.The Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P. M. on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Page-Theus Funeral Home. Services will follow immediately at 2:00 P. M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.In Lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT.Page-Theus Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements.
