Dear Pete,You and Elsie were our neighbors for37 years, it was so hard when we decidedto move closer to Ocala to leave you.You were like a second Dad to Gene having lost his Father at 21. Elsie waslike a second Mom to me always there toinvite us over for dinner after a hardday of work. How we all miss her famous "beef and hand made noodles".We would go out for dinner often and shared lots of family celebrations. You were always included in our Christmas and Easter plans with all the family. We always had so much fun going out to dinner and never lacked for conversation. "Mom and Dad's" was one of our favorites and Elsie would always order "Spaghetti and 1 Meat Ball", please. We would always kid her because she wasn't a big veggie eater...told her "your going to wear a bag on your side". Gene and Pete always loved their Delmonicos. Guess I'm making you hungry now. Wednesdays were always "Pizza Night" and Pete you were so smart and could answer most any question on your favorite "Jeopardy" and if Pete didn't know it, Elsie did!We helped you celebrate your 40th, 50thand 60th Wedding Anniversaries...we never saw a harsh word between you, wellmaybe when Elsie had had enough fishingprograms and Roland Martin! Our daughters, Lori and Leigh Ann thought of you like extra grandparents. You saw them grow up from infants...to grown women. Pete, you and Elsie, always bought whatever school fundraiser they were selling...they knew they could count on you two no matter what it cost! You were there when they married and enjoyed seeing them become mothers. Elsie made beautiful hand knit baby blankets for the grandboys when they were born and a goregous throw when we bought our new home. Gene and you, Pete, enjoyed many an houron the lakes of Lake and Sumter Counties. One day at Leesburg Avante Gene presented you a list of all the places you fished together...it totaled50 and that was what he could remember.I remember one Thanksgiving we had a "turkey will travel" fishing trip and went to Ft. Pierce with my Mom and Dad, too. It was bitterly cold but that didn't stop you all from fishing.Gene was fortunate to enjoy many a fishing trip to Port Salerno with you, Pete, and your best buddy, Larry Reed. You also shared a many a fishing trip toSanibel Island together. I think you loved golf but fishing was your real passion aside from Elsie. You have had quite a long life and yourjourney as we know it was a testimonyany one would be proud to walk. You havefought hard and run and good race. Youendured what most could never. You havebeen at death's door and come back to life again and again...now you are atpeace and your pain and suffering is over. I can see you reunited with your dear sweet Elsie...as she has been patiently waiting for you. Enjoy our dear friends, we will miss you terriblybut God willing someday we will all be together again for all eternity to enjoy!
