Karen B. Hoch's Obituary
Karen Beyer Hoch, 77, of The Villages, FL, passed away on February 21, 2025.
Known as “Honey” to her close family, Karen was born on October 7, 1947, in Alexandria, VA, to her loving parents, Irving and Florence (Goldberg) Beyer. Growing up with her family on Long Island Karen graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University. During her college years she spent time on a kibbutz in Israel, an experience that deeply shaped her, as well as spending a year in an exchange program in the UK, where she met her husband and started her family. While living in England she owned a hardware store in Croydon, before eventually settling in Florida, where her parents had retired. For the next 48 years, Florida became her home.
A warm and social person, Karen had the gift of hospitality. She was known for hosting wonderful gatherings, bringing friends and family together over delicious meals and laughter. She was an active member of her community, including the Single Baby Boomers Club and Ladies on the Go, where she formed lifelong friendships.
Karen is predeceased by her husband, Stan Hoch. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Powers (P.J. Powers) and Ellen Pitts (Timothy Pitts); her brother, Stephen; six grandchildren—Abigail, Tyler, Ethan, Preston, Emily, and Ari; three great-grandchildren; her cousin and closest friend, Jo Wodiska; and her longtime companion, Scott Decker.
Karen spent her final years living her dream in The Villages, surrounded by friends, laughter, and the Florida sunshine. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
