Joyce Carol Witlin's Obituary
Loving wife and mother, Joyce Carol Romanoff-Witlin, Joycie to her beloved husband, was 76 when she passed. Joycie lived in Wildwood, FL and passed on October 6, 2022. She was born in the Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia, PA on January 15, 1946, to her parents Eugene Romanoff and Anna Hoffman-Romanoff. She is survived by Bill Witlin, her soul mate, her loving daughter Myrra Sacks-Isgrigg and her heart, grand-daughter Morgan Faulkner. She always wanted to be a Bubbie.
Joyce moved from Bucks County, PA to Florida in 2004. She was a devoted member of Temple Shalom of Central Florida and very proud of her Jewish faith and heritage. She was most definitely Jewish through and through, and she was loved for it.
Joyce broke glass ceilings: she was a strong, motivated woman that paved the way for many others, especially in her career as a mechanical draftswoman. She was the first woman draftswoman on the east coast in the 1960s. Like most women in the 60s, she knew that her chosen career path would bring many obstacles for her. She stood against the misogyny and unequal pay of the “Boy’s Club,” as she used to say, only to jump the hurdles that blocked her way. She knew that she was one of “the first.” She knew that she was paving the way for all women today. After a rewarding career, she retired in 2015.
Joycie is my mother. She has always been my hero. I will love her always. She was a dedicated, caring, deeply loving person and applied herself completely to whatever endeavor she undertook. She taught me independence and most importantly, the meaning of unconditional love.
This is the Joycie I know.
