Donald Allan "Don" Burpee's Obituary
Donald Allan “Don” Burpee passed away at the age of 59 in Gainesville, Florida on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Don was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. He moved to the Dunnellon, Florida area over 21 years ago. He was an avid outdoorsman and through his many travels visited all but two of the continental United States. Don was a great family man and was known for his fun loving personality and enthusiasm along with spending quality time with Brenda his wife of 18 years.
Don spent his time with several hobbies including fishing, hunting, music, woodworking, and riding his motorcycle. He loved spending his days on the water or in the woods. When not outdoors, Don was a lover of all music types and had taught himself to play the bass guitar and was an accomplished woodworker creating many pieces cherished by his family and friends.
He enjoyed life and loved being active but his greatest passion was truly his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and was always ready with a great story or a friendly ear to listen with.
He is survived by his wife Brenda; daughters – Nicole Burpee of Buffalo, NY; and Barbara O’Brien (Mark) of Ocala; sons – Michael Smith of Dunnellon, FL; and Keith (Jill) Smith of Orlando; grandchildren – Jessica; Henry; Logan; and Devin O’Brien and a large extended family who were loved very much by Don.
A funeral service with military honors is planned for 10 AM – Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
