Wilma Lee Megchelsen's Obituary
Wilma Lee Megchelsen passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus on Saturday, March 4, 2017. She was 90 years old although often mistaken for 79 or younger. She was healthy, very much alert and enjoyed her life. She greatly missed her husband, David, who passed just over two years ago. They were married for 68 years. They enjoyed everything together including ballroom dancing, Caribbean cruising, attending Immanuel Baptist Church, and attending regular musical events in The Villages.
She deeply loved her family, including daughter Marsha Jane Thyren (Paul) of Waldo, Wisconsin, son David Barry Megchelsen of Wheeling, Illinois, and daughter Melanie Jean Pav (Glenn) of Largo, Florida. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Wilma lived a full life here in Florida as well as prior to their coming to Florida in 1992, in LaGrange, Illinois. In her working career she was an executive secretary, office manager, and department manager. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir at whatever church they attended over the years.
Wilma was born in Normal, Illinois, and lived her formative years in St. Louis, Missouri, where she met David, who was serving in the Army Air Corps at the time. They moved to LaGrange, Illinois, in 1955.
Her remains will be rested with David’s at the Florida National Cemetery.
