William Mertz's Obituary
William Arthur Mertz age 92 passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Mertz was born in Milton, PA and moved to the Leesburg area in 1986 from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He retired from the Bethlehem Steel Company after almost 40 years of service. He was a sergeant in the 36th “Texas” Infantry division of the U.S. Army in WW II and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church, Leesburg, FL and a former member of Christ Church UCC in Bethlehem, PA where he also served as an Elder. He was one of the founding members of the Hawthorne Community’s Woodcrafter’s Club and enjoyed various projects from carpentry to making fine jewelry. He also enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 63 years – Eloise, his son Craig, and sisters – Mabel, Inez, and Isabelle. He is survived by his daughter-Pam (Ray) Anger of Drexel Hill, PA; 3 grandchildren – Gary, Ryan, and Kristin; and one great-grandchild – Skylar.
