William John Kane's Obituary
William (Bill) John Kane, 78, Leesburg, Florida passed away on December 21, 2023, at his apartment at Lake Port Square Senior Living Community surrounded by his loving family. William was born on December 12, 1945, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to his parents Leo Kane and Ruthie (Lane) Tabaka.
Bill enlisted in the US Army in 1962, and served his country for over 27 years, earning the rank of Sergeant First Class. Bill was a combat veteran, completing a one-year tour in Vietnam with the 1st Signal Brigade. Throughout his life, Bill was known to be charismatic and caring, bringing joy and laughter to his family and friends.
Upon retirement, Bill and his wife Margaret moved to Florida. He was of the Catholic faith and a devoted member of St. Paul Catholic Community in Leesburg, Florida. He was very active in many ministries at St. Paul including working in the Eucharistic Ministries. Bill loved being in the Knights of Columbus brotherhood, he was often seen wearing his red vest proudly.
Bill is survived by his children: William R. Kane, Leo J. Kane, Coleen A. Kane and Angel M. Kane; Ralph R. Bowman, Patrick M. Bowman, Sherry A. Bowman, Bobbie M. Bowman Rokosz, Grandchildren: Eric R. Rokosz, Frankie M. Rokosz, Pandee Moon, Piper M. Kane, Ryan M. Kane, Emily G. Kane; sister: Margaret Kane Ravalli.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret M. Kane, and parents, Leo Kane and Ruthie Lane Tabaka.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 8:30AM at St. Paul Catholic Church in Leesburg, Fl. A burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania at a later date.
