Wallace Ledlie Grover's Obituary
With heavy hearts but deep gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life of Wallace Ledlie Grover, who passed away surrounded by family on January 19, 2025, in Lexington, South Carolina. Born on November 14, 1928, in Bath, New York, Wally was the beloved son of Dr. James Ledlie and Irene (Dasey) Grover and brother of Patricia (Grover) Beekman. Throughout his life, he was a dedicated and hardworking man, proudly serving in the Coast Guard before building a successful career in the tire industry. He established well-known tire stores, Wally 4 Tires in Columbia, South Carolina, and Tire Round-Up in Leesburg and Lady Lake, Florida, leaving a lasting legacy of commitment and service.
In May of 1953, Wally married the love of his life, Mabert (Brown) Grover. He was a devoted husband and proud father to their three sons: Jeffrey (Tracy), Stephen (Mary) and Edward (Nan). He was a loving grandfather to his seven grandchildren: Justin, Michele, Chris (Amanda), Amy (Paul), Hannah (Pasan), Wesley (Alice) and Zachary as well as many great-grandchildren. He deeply loved and cared for his family, and his laughter, wisdom, and warm presence created a strong foundation for generations to come. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mabert, his parents, his sister, his son, Stephen, and his daughter-in-law, Tracy. We take comfort in knowing he is joyfully reunited with them..
A man full of life and good humor, Wally had a gift for storytelling and a knack for bringing smiles to those around him. Whether sharing a joke or reminiscing about days gone by, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome and at ease. While we mourn his passing, we are profoundly grateful for the love and joy he brought into our lives. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Services will be held Tuesday April 15, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell with Rev. Gary Blanchard officiating.
