Viola Paulson Remala's Obituary
Viola Paulson Remala passed away on Monday, April 25, 2011 at the age of 102. She was born on March 21, 1909 in Kirkland, IL to the late Edwin and Nelly Paulson. Viola received a Bachelor’s degree along with her teaching certification and was an elementary school teacher for over 36 years. At one time she taught in a one room school house. She was a very active person through-out her life, perusing such interests as needle point, crochet’, playing cards, and reading books. She also loved to travel, volunteered with Hospice groups, was very active in the PTA of the schools where she taught, and most of all enjoyed spending time with family. On March 9, 1993 she lost her partner of ______years, her husband, Wayne Remala. Viola is survived by one son; Gordon (Carole) Remala of Placentia, CA, a daughter; Janice (Noel) Wiley of Sturgis, MI, five grandchildren; Julie Romala, Chris (Cassie) Romala, Jennifer Steele, Scott Wiley and Bryan Wiley, and eleven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one brother; Victor Paulson, and two sisters; Evelyn Hanson, and Lois Thurlbe. There will be a Memorial Service for Mrs. Remala on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in the East Tower of Lake Port Square with Rev. John Harrington officiating.
