Vera G Murphy's Obituary
Vera G. Murphy, 97, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013. She will join the love of her life, Frank J. Murphy, her husband of 52 years. Mrs. Murphy was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. She and her husband moved to what was then called Orange Blossom Gardens from Millbrook, AL in 1984. She was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. Vera was a homemaker who loved being with her family. She also enjoyed knitting, playing her organ, ceramics, line dancing, bowling, and volunteering at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center, which she did for 10 years. Vera and her husband were one of the twelve original couples who started the Orange Blossom Squares. She is survived by three children; Elaine (Fred) Junkofsky of The Villages, Randy (Flo) Murphy of Conception Bay South, Newfoundland, Canada, and David (Constance) Murphy of Hurst, TX, along with six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Murphy will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 in the Page-Theus Funeral Home in Leesburg at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be on Monday, in the funeral home, from Noon until the time of services. Burial will follow in the family plot in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials in Vera’s honor be directed to Cornerstone Hospice, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, Fl 32749.
