Suzanna S Phen's Obituary
Shou Nan Phen, 85, completed her work here on Earth and was called home peacefully to the Lord on Thursday, April 25th, 2019. She was surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on July 25th, 1934 and immigrated twice, first to Pakistan and then to the United States in the 1980s. Words cannot begin to describe the amazing woman she was in life. With limited command of the English language, she successfully navigated and adapted to American life. “Adapted” is an understatement. Actually, she thrived.
She was an independent, strong, fierce and caring individual who positively touched and greatly impacted the lives of all who knew her. In other words, she was a complete Bad-Ass.
As a Catholic, she exemplified the good taught in the bible. Helping others in a time of need, attending mass on Sundays, and being compassionate toward others. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, sewing, knitting, and spending time with her family. She loved sharing spectacular stories of her past adventures and spent her time looking after her grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally.
The most important and recognizable trait she had was her curiosity. She loved learning about the world and all it had to offer.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Tay Hai Phen as they are back together again.
She is survived by her five children along with their spouses: Stephen (Elizabeth), Lourdes, Alban (Vai Hua), Sandra (Khai) and David (Judy); and ten grandchildren.
Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, cooking and singing to her heart’s content. Music, laughter, joy and love are absolutely guaranteed.
Suzanna Shou Nan Phen was many things in life: Woman, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She will now be adding “Angel” to the list as she is now looking down and protecting us.
We will miss her food. We will miss her presence. We will miss her dearly.
The funeral service will take place at Page-Theus Funeral Home on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 at 9:00 am. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
