Sharon McCollum Borden's Obituary
Sharon Borden was born in Mer Rouge LA, on April 5, 1946. She was called home peacefully at 9:45 p.m. on March 27 at her home in Royal Highlands, Leesburg, FL. Sharon battled cancer for over three years and put up a valiant fight. Sharon was a devoted and beloved sister, wife, grandmother, great aunt and aunt. Sharon was the oldest of three children. She was known to many as a patient and selfless woman and perseverant in all facets of her life. She married Harvey Borden on January 27, 1990 and began an adventure with him for the next 33 years. She had two step daughters and three granddaughters and treated them as if they were her own children. The family was of utmost importance and being a wife, step mother and grandmother was her main purpose in life. She and Harvey enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, and exploring the western states.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Harvey Borden, step daughters Sandi Giarrusso and Stacey Schwartz, son-in-law Scot Schwartz and grandchildren, Alyssa and Ava Giarrusso, Logan Schwartz, and sister-in-law Enid Borden. In addition, brothers-in-law, Richard Gerald, Howell Ford, nephews Brad Gerald and wife, Sonya Gerald, Corey Gerald and wife, Rachel Gerald, Jason Gerald and wife, Jennifer Gerald. Her grandnephew and nieces Joseph Gerald, Hayden Collins, Kaylee Collins, Tanner Gerald, Alyssa Gerald, Baylee Henson, William Henson, Lee Ford and Joseph Henson.
The loved ones that cleared the path for her to return home were her sisters, Peggy McCollum Gerald and Diane McCollum Ford, her parents, Audrey Smith McCollum and Vernon McCollum of Mer Rouge, LA.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 30 at 1pm at Page-Theus Funeral Home at 914 West Main St., Leesburg. Committal services and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at 1901 County 25-A, Leesburg.
There will be a reception after the burial at Royal Highlands at the Great Hall at 21505 Royal Saint George Lane, Leesburg; from approximately 2:45-5:30 pm.
