Ruth H. Smallwood's Obituary
Ruth H. Smallwood age 88, passed away peacefully September 30, 2019 at her home in Leesburg, Florida. Ruth was born in Berea, Kentucky and moved to the Leesburg area in 1958. She was well known in the area for her skilled furniture upholstery and ran a daycare from her home for many years touching the lives of scores of Leesburg’s children with her kind and nurturing personality. Those close to her remember her as a truly honest, thoughtful, giving and hardworking person. She was an accomplished cook known for her chicken and dumplings and the best meatloaf in town. She enjoyed canning jams and vegetables, camping at the beach, and southern gospel music was always a favorite. She was predeceased by her loving husband Grant and her son Gary Smallwood. She is survived by her loving children – Wanda (Dan) Carol Hale of Webster; William “Bill” (Ruby) Smallwood of Weirsdale; and Mitch (Diane) Smallwood of Leesburg; three brothers: Gilbert Harrison, William Harrison, Jr. and Albert Harrison all of Kentucky; three sisters: Mary Helen Bright of Ohio, Martha Jane Conn of Kentucky and Margaret Smallwood of Tennessee; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A service celebrating Ruth’s life is planned for Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at the Page-Theus Funeral Home in Leesburg, Florida. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00PM to 1:45PM with the service beginning immediately thereafter. All arrangements are under the careful direction of Page-Theus Funeral Home, Leesburg, Florida.
