Dr. Roy Kenneth Golden's Obituary
Dr. Roy Kenneth Golden, 83, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on January 13, 2020.
Roy was born in 1936 in Boston, Massachusetts, to Dr. Leo and Edyth Golden. He was a proud alumnus of Brookline High School, Bates College and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Following dental school, Roy served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, stationed at Camp Casey in Dongducheon (near the DMZ), South Korea and Fort George G. Mead, Maryland, USA. He started his own private dental practice in Wollaston, Massachusetts, where he practiced for almost 44 years. He loved being a dentist and was known for his caring approach to his patients and never turning away anyone who could not pay for their dental care. A devoted member of the Jewish community, he was a member of Temple Israel, Brockton, Massachusetts, for almost 40 years. A long-time resident of Brockton, Roy moved with his wife to The Villages in 2007, following his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, creating stained glass windows, playing bridge, listening to the music of his childhood, reading mystery and spy novels, riding with his dogs in the golf cart, traveling, a good meal and, above all else, the company of his friends and family.
Roy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kyung-Ja Golden, children Dr. Michelle Golden (Dr. Aaron Izes) of Sydney, Australia, son, Dr. Neal Golden of Baltimore, Maryland and niece and nephew, Susan Golden (Edward Weil) of San Diego, California and David Golden (Sara Golden) of Middleboro, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dr. Allan Golden. Roy was a loving son, brother, husband, father and uncle. Roy’s sense of humor, insightful and practical advice for his children, and love for his family and friends will be greatly missed by all.
A Funeral Service will be held for Roy on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Page-Theus Funeral Home, at 11:00 AM. A Committal Service will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, at 1:30 PM.
