Rosetta M Owens' Obituary
Rosetta (Rosie) Marie (DeNome) Owens, 91, of Wildwood, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, in Ocala, FL.
Rosetta was born on April 13, 1932, to Frank and Dorothy DeNome. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950 and began her journey to becoming a Registered Nurse. She was a 1953 graduate of Beaver Valley General Hospital School of Nursing and retired from the Medical Center (Beaver, PA) in 1986.
In 1987, she and her husband relocated to Wildwood, FL to begin a new journey. She worked as a school nurse for the Florida Department of State for Sumter County for 25 years, before retiring. She then served as a nursing instructor at Sumter County Community College for several years. She was a highly awarded and respected nurse and received numerous awards and accreditation's.
Rosie was a devoted wife to Clifford (Skip) Owens for 69 years and mother of two. Her passion was taking care of her family and countless babies and children. Her knowledge was evident in her ordained mission.
If anyone needed advice on how to raise their babies, Rosie had the answer. When asked about motherhood and the business of babies she said “We’re like mother birds. We let our little ones fly away from the nests a little at a time, but not so far away that we can’t reach them if they need us.”
Some of the most precious advice, however, has been given to her own grandchildren, on how to care for her great grand babies.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Clifford (Skip) Owens, a daughter Susan (Ralph) Winters (East Liverpool, OH), a son Jay (Susan) Owens (Aliquippa, PA), 5 grandchildren, Stephen (Aenoy) Safran, Lori (Chad) Browning, Zachary (John) Owens, Cole Winters, and Molly (Cody) Suehr. She is also survived by her 5 great grandchildren, Ethan and Ayla Browning, Arthur and Logan Safran, and Mason Suehr. She is also survived by numerous extended family and a multitude of cherished friends.
She was a Catholic by faith and attended the First Christian Church in Wildwood, FL. Her hobbies included playing her organ, reading her Bible, and taking walks. Rosie had a tender and loving heart and will be missed greatly. You could always find her humming and was most likely humming a sweet tune when Jesus welcomed her home.
Per her wishes, there will be no public visitation. Arrangements made through Page-Theus Funeral Home, Leesburg, FL. A celebration of life will be made at a future date.
