I was lucky to have Robert "Bob" Heroy as my Papa. He was an interesting, loving, and hard working man. He used to tell me interesting stories about his childhood and family. About how his brother died in the war and the time he hit two grand slams in one game playing baseball. He was also a loving man and when he taught me how to golf; not only did he give me his old golf clubs, but he also mowed the side lawn to be a par three golf hole! He was finally a hard working man and he taught me by example the value of a good work ethic. When I was younger I used to lobster fish in the harbor, Papa helped me paint all of my buoys and also helped me paint my entire wooden skiff. Papa will be missed by all who knew and loved him. It's very sad that we'll never see his smile or hear his voice, but it's reassuring to know he is in a better place. I'll always love you papa, rest in peace.
I was lucky enough that Robert Heroy adopted my mom back when she was a baby. I got blessed with my amazing family . Not only a strong, funny, warm hearted grandmother but also my mother who inspires me everyday. Papa also was quite the hoot to have around. He was wildly opinionated and I had myself quite a few fun squabbles with him. Though our opinions differed he was still at the end of the day a giving, helping, loving man. I wouldn't be the same if I wasn't given his presence in my life. I love you papa. Rest easy.
Bob Heroy was a great husband, father, grandfather and father in law. He always loved to be around the younger children, which always brought a smile to his face. Bob’s greatest passion was taking care of his family, whether it was helping around the house with chores or giving you what every you needed, he always did it with love. The most valuable thing he always gave was his loving advice. I will truly miss having him around to hang out with and hearing stories of baseball, and being a lifeguard in Jersey while all the time teaching me how to be a better father. May you rest in peace Papa.
So many fun times growing up! You used to play the old man on the bench from the laugh in and do that funny thing to your eye brows. Thanks for all the memorable trips to Florida to see Gram and Gramp. The vacations at the beach were great too! Love and miss you. RIP Uncle Bob
