Robert Edward Parker Jr's Obituary
Robert Edward Parker Jr. passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the age of 88. Robert was born on February 14, 1924 in North Terra Haute, IN to the late Robert Sr. and Ruth Parker. Robert had many great accomplishments in his life to include making All State in basketball in high school, serving his country as a Naval Pilot in WWII flying Corsairs and F-4U’s, as well as working with NASA on the Saturn-5 rockets. He also was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Leesburg Lodge 58, Scottish rite, Past President of the Tri-county High 12 Club #674, and appointed Florida State Chaplain for 2005, a member of the Lake County Bahia Shrine Club, and the Leesburg Order of the Eastern Star for over 60 years, and was also a member of the American Legion Post 219 in Fruitland Park. Robert’s career had taken him to many different places, but he had settled in the Lake County area in 1986 with his loving wife of over 64 years, Gerry Parker, who survives him along with two sons; Charles E. (Sherry) Parker in Houston,TX, Robert (Dr. Carol Wheeler) Parker of Warwick, RI, and a daughter Sharon (Don White) Smith-White of Mt. Dora, FL. He is also survived by grandchildren; Tonia (Gary) Russell, Tommy (Kelle) Parker, Chelsea, Ashley and Brent Parker, great-grandchildren Caroline Russell and Alexandra Parker and one sister; Dorothy Henager of Kennewick, WA. Visitation for Mr. Parker will be on Wednesday, Aug. 22nd. in the Page-Theus Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the Community United Methodist of Fruitland Park on Thursday, Aug 23rd. at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the family plot in Shiloh Cemetery.
