Richard R. Selleck's Obituary
Richard R. Selleck, Professor Emeritus, 97.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, August 29 1916, graduated from Cleveland Heights High School, 1934, and Ohio University in 1938. He worked for General Motors in Cleveland as a vibration analyst during WW II. After the war he returned to Ohio University for his Master’s Degree and became a professor of Electrical Engineering. He was also a Consulting Engineer for Columbus & Southern Ohio Electric Company (now AEP).
Upon Retirement in 1976 he moved to Leesburg, Florida. He lived in the Hawthorne at Leesburg Community where he was very active before moving to Lake Port Square in 1999. He loved music, played the clarinet, liked to bowl and play golf. For awhile in retirement he tutored math in a Leesburg Middle School.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Helen-Louise. He is survived by his 4 Children: Marcia Miller, Ocala, FL; Ronald Selleck, Fayetteville, TN; Sue Griffith, Sarasota, FL; and Nancy Bloomer, Washington, WV; 7 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 12:00-1:00 P. M. at Page-Theus Funeral Home and Cremation Services- 914 West Main St., Leesburg, Florida. A funeral service will follow immediately at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Chet Garrison serving as Officiant. All arrangements are under the careful direction of Page-Theus Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
