Paul Spakowski's Obituary
Paul Spakowski, who was 96 years of age and lived in the Plantation at Leesburg in Florida, went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2024. Beverly Jean Cooper Spakowski and their two sons Steven and Todd Lee Spakowski predeceased him in death.
He was originally from New Britain, CT and graduated from New Britain Senior High School. He played on a state championship football team in 1945. He also was on a second place state championship track team while at New Britain High School. After high school, he received a football scholarship from the University of Dayton in Ohio. In 1952, the University of Dayton played the University of Houston in what today is called the Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix, AZ on January 1, 1952. He was in the US Army for 2 years, stationed at Fort Bliss in Texas, during the Korean Conflict from 1954-1956. After being discharged from the US Army he received a Master’s Degree in Secondary Administration from the University of Toledo in Ohio. Teaching social studies, science, and algebra, he also coached football and basketball.
He retired in 1985 as a high school assistant principal. Paul and his wife moved to Welbourne, FL in 1991, then they moved to the Plantation at Leesburg in Florida in 2002. Paul and Beverly considered moving to the Plantation the best thing they ever did.
