Mr. Paul Eugene Landis' Obituary
Paul Eugene Landis (Gene), age 87, of Lady Lake FL passed away on May 15th, 2014 surrounded by his wife Demaris (Dee) and children at the Cornerstone Hospice of The Villages, FL.
He was born to the late Paul Landis & Caroline Hall Landis on January 5th, 1927 in Sterling Illinois where he resided the majority of his life. He and his wife Dee of 40 years moved permanently to Lady Lake, FL in 2010.
Gene was a United States Navy Veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. He served aboard the USS Whitehurst DE-634 and two other Navy ships and was very proud to have served his country. He definitely had many "sea stories". After serving in the Navy he was employed by and retired from Northwestern Steel and Wire in 1990 after 36 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister Norma Whitver and son Scott. Gene is survived by his wife Demaris Huckaba Landis, three sons, Doug and wife Chris of Sterling IL, Greg of Tampa, FL, Jimmy of St Cloud, FL, one daughter, Julie Landis Ecker and husband Ken of Springville IN, one step-daughter Kerina Anselmo and husband Mark, one step-son Tommy Denham,12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Military Funeral Honors will be rendered at Gene's final resting place which will be the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Services entrusted to Page-Theus Funeral Home, Leesburg, FL.
