Paul J. King's Obituary
Paul J. King, born August 9, 1942, passed away on July 19, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his children Debbie Cervantes (Edward) and Scott King and predeceased by his wife Kathy King. Paul was the son of Paul B. and Rheba King, and the brother to Shannon Peterson and Ted King. His grandchildren Christine Allen-Cervantes (Matt Hrizcko), Korrin Glasscock (Andy), and Brianna Cervantes, as well as his great-grandchildren Garrett Hrizcko and Davin Glasscock, both of which brought him immeasurable joy.
Paul, an Air Force veteran, was known for his exuberant celebration of Christmas, renowned for his intricate Christmas village and stunning light displays, which won numerous community decoration contests. With a passion for cooking, Paul humorously labeled his culinary creations, including chili, potato salad, and ribs, as "world-famous."
Some of Paul’s favorite pastimes included working on cars (his favorite being his 1966 Ford Mustang!), engaging in friendly golf competitions with his son and son-in-law, fishing and playing Hand and Foot (card game) with his granddaughters and friends. He also found great fulfillment in tutoring local elementary students and making many friends in his Stonecrest community. Paul was also a skilled woodworker, crafting decorative pieces under the name "King's Woodcrafting," and had a passion for botany, maintaining a beautiful yard and cultivating bonsai, orchids, and fruit trees. Let’s not forget his love for salmon fishing in Puget Sound, Washington.
Most importantly, Paul’s greatest joy in life was his family, whom he cherished deeply, especially his beloved wife for almost 60 years, Kathy. Paul will be dearly missed for his warmth, humor, and unconditional love for his family and friends.
Love you more than yesterday, less than tomorrow!
