Nelda Faye Johnson's Obituary
Nelda Faye Johnson, 85, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, at the University of Florida Health Center in The Villages, Florida. She was surrounded by her loving family as she entered into rest.
Born in Glen Allan, Mississippi, Nelda was the daughter of Cornett and Hazel Pearl Rushing. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jimmy Rushing, and her sister Reba Goodwin.
Nelda is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Jerry Johnson; her children, Mary Jeanette West and Christopher R. Johnson; her grandchildren Jason R. Fox and Ashley Gingras; step‑granddaughter Holly Rupert; stepson Garrett West; her sisters Terry Coslet, Brenda Wells, Connie Dillon, and Vista Hammons; ten great‑grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Nelda was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg, where she found fellowship, comfort, and community throughout the years.
Throughout her life, Nelda traveled extensively with her husband during his 20 years of service in the United States Air Force and later during his work with McDonnell Douglas, living in Saudi Arabia and visiting many countries in Europe. She also worked for several years at the Naval Training Center in Orlando, where she was known for her kindness and gentle spirit.
Nelda will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her warm heart, and the beautiful life she shared with those she cherished.
