Naomi Landers Bersot's Obituary
Naomi Landers Bersot entered eternal rest on Friday, May 9th, 2025, at the age of 100.
Naomi was born to her parents, Arthur and Eva Landers, in Shelbyville, KY on the 16th day of December in 1924. After graduating from Shelbyville High School in 1942, she would go on to meet and marry Dana Overton Bersot. Dana served in the United States Army until the death of his father. Dana would receive a hardship discharge and he and Naomi would return to the family farm in Todds Point, KY to raise their family.
It was Dana and Naomi’s dream to move to the warmth of Florida and in 1976, they retired to Leesburg, FL. Naomi’s final residence being with her daughter and son-in-law in Fruitland Park, FL.
Throughout her life, Naomi enjoyed quilting, crocheting and knitting, even becoming a founding member of the Lake County Quilt Guild. She spent much of her time traveling, making it a point to visit all 50 states. As a Christian, she was a proud member of the Leesburg Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, Naomi is preceded in death by her three sisters, Nancy Moore (Roy), Mary Rose Riddell (JT), Evelyn Burk (Ray); one brother, Arthur Jr (Carolyn); and two sons, Robert (Bobby) and Richard (Ricky) Bersot.
She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Janet and EJ Snider; two grandchildren, Toni Moore (Jeffrey), Rob Ferguson (Carrie); three great-grandchildren, Brianna (Max), Zach (Megan) and Katie Sarah (Ricky); and five great-great-grandchildren. A special outgoing of love to her late sister, Mary Rose Riddell and the entire Riddell family.
No service will be held in Florida. A graveside service will be on October 20th, at 10:00 am at Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville KY. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Mission Oaks Assisted Living Facility in Oxford, Fl where from August 2024 until her passing, Naomi lived. A special thanks goes out to the entire nursing (with special regards to Tal and Michelle) and room staff at Mission Oaks ALF and Cornerstone Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the First Baptist Church of Leesburg, FL Samaritan Inn Family Shelter.
