Michael Robert "Mike" Ray's Obituary
Michael R. “Mike” Ray, 78, The Villages, Florida passed away on November 19, 2022 at The Villages Regional Hospital in The Villages, Florida. Mike was born on February 13, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York to his parents George Larry Ray and Charlotte (Salzman) Ray.
Michael spent part of his educational years at school in Arverne, New York and ended his school education at Food Trades Technical High School in New York City. His first full time job was working directly under the chef at the Stanhope Residential Hotel in New York City. Mike met his future wife, Susan and wed on December 13, 1964. Mike and Susan had two son’s and moved to Long Island, New York and worked in restaurants all over Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island, New York for over thirty years. He then retired and moved to The Villages, Florida and joined in many activities including the Second Honeymoon Club, the New York State Club, The Loopers Club, and of course The Saltwater Fishing Club (which entitled him to pick through all the fishing club trips and attend the annual Fishing Club Family Celebration). But more than all of the above-mentioned activities was being a member of Temple Shalom (which he joined in before there was even a physical building to attend in). Mike was always ready to step in and assist in food prep, serving, etc. wherever help was needed, he was there!
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 58 years: Susan Ray of The Villages, FL; a son: Keith Ray of New York State.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved son, Russell Matthew Ray.
A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date at Temple Shalom of Central Florida in Oxford, Florida.
