Michael J. McConnell's Obituary
Michael James McConnell, 76, of Leesburg, FL, passed away on September 15, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Mike was born in Indianapolis, IN, on February 4, 1948, to his loving parents; Robert and Vivian (Atkinson) McConnell.
Before Mike became a resident of Florida, he was assistant principal at McKinley Middle School in Ohio. Following that, Mike established a construction company before starting his own printing company, which eventually became Alliance Printing.
Mike met Maureen Booth in high school and the two began dating towards the end of their senior year. They celebrated a wonderful 57 years together. Mike was a gregarious man, he loved people and also enjoyed spending his time fishing, boating, playing golf, and betting on the horses.
Mike was a hardworking and talented man; he could and did do anything he put his mind to. He will be terribly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
Mike is survived by his wife, Maureen Booth McConnell, his children Molly (Mike) Hunt and Marcus (Marielena) McConnell, four grandchildren: Brittany Dennis , Brooke Dennis, Matthew Hunt and Jordan Hunt and two great grandchildren, Saleen and James, as well as seven siblings: Patty (Tom) Sauers, Bob (Dorothy) McConnell, Denny (Sheila) McConnell, John (Diane) McConnell, Mary McConnell, Greg (Donna) McConnell and Ed (Stephanie) McConnell, his dear friend Chris Grimes and many nieces and nephews.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Adrienne Gavula.
A celebration of life will be held in Middletown, Ohio at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
