Merlene Clifton Parker's Obituary
Merlene Clifton Parker, 88, of Okahumpka, Florida, passed away February 17, 2023, with her family by her side. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was born on August 18, 1934 to the late Harvey and Ollie Wiggins of Millen, Georgia. She is survived by siblings Euda Lee Deer, Nellie Kate Oglesby, Donald Wiggins, Ronald Wiggins, Shirley Herrmann and Larry Wiggins.
She was married to the late Artie Clifton from 1952–1996. She is survived by their six children: Artie Clifton, Jr. (Rachel) of Jacksonville, FL, John Clifton of Okahumpka, Diane Reynolds of Okahumpka, Debbie Hill (Rob) of Raleigh, NC, Tammy Dahart (Kevin) of Fruitland Park, FL and Theresa Gouine (Mickey) of Okahumpka. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Our mother was a kind, caring and giving person who put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman of faith who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. Our mother instilled in us the importance of hard work, of doing what is right, and was a source of inspiration to us all.
Visitation hours will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, February 24 at Page-Theus Funeral Home, 914 W. Main St., Leesburg. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, February 25 at the First Baptist Church of Okahumpka, with burial following the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg.
