Megan Hensley Loyd's Obituary
Megan H. Loyd left us way too soon on Sunday, April 18, 2021. She was born in Greene County, Virginia on October 30, 1940, to the late Sarah Beasley Hensley and Fred Lawrence Hensley. She thrived by her love of family, her grandchildren, her son, and for many years her joy of cooking.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Caroline Loyd of Bentonville AR; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Bethany and Todd Andersen of St. Louis Park MN; grandson John Loyd of Woodbury MN; Special niece/best-friend/like-a-daughter Barbara Lawson of Leesburg, FL; Special niece/like-a-daughter Tammy Esteves and husband Hans of Orlando, FL; Special great-nephew/like-a-son Scott Hensley and wife Stacy and their son Chase of Huntersville, NC; great-niece/like-a-granddaughter Cari Hall and fiancée Ryan Kirby of Orlando, FL; great-nephew Kyle Esteves of Tacoma, WA; as well as beloved family and friends too numerous to mention. In addition to her parents, she has joined in Heaven her sister Virginia Barnett, her brothers Mack, Roy, Curtis, and Clarence Hensley; her great-niece/like-a-granddaughter Kaylee McGee; her nephew/like a son-in-law Dallas Lawson; and special aunts Geneva Wood and Annie Boone.
Mom taught the family many lessons by how she tackled whatever life put in front of her. She was fiercely loyal to her family and to her work. She instilled a strong work ethic in others exemplified by over 50+ years at Dalgliesh Gilpin Paxton Architects retiring and then returning to help when needed into her 70’s. She loved to cook, test new recipes, and was always on the hunt for the latest new kitchen gadgets, passing her passion on to a number of family members. She put family first, helping many generations throughout her entire life putting their needs before her own. She was the quintessential southern lady; kind, stubborn, and caring.
At Mom's request, no funeral services will be held. As a family, we will celebrate her life this summer at her favorite place, the beach. In her memory, she would love for you to take time to call a loved one, connect with a friend and fix a meal with love.
