Mary Jane Settles' Obituary
Mary Jane Settles, 78, of The Villages, FL, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on November 19, 2023. Mary Jane (“Janie”) was born July 20, 1945, in Washington, IN to Oris “Wat” and Hallie Edith (Gregory) Jones.
Mary Jane attended Washington High School and graduated from Indiana University, earning a B.S. degree in business statistics. Mary Jane worked as a software engineer for 27 years.
She married Bill Settles on October 25, 1969, and they were inseparable for more than 54 years. The couple shared amazing memories of their many travels throughout the years, but her most memorable moments were with family and friends.
Upon retirement in 2004, Mary Jane and Bill moved to The Villages, FL. Within her communities in Indiana and Florida, she will be remembered as a selfless angel with a positive personality. To her husband and son, Mary Jane was the world.
Mary Jane is survived by her adoring husband, Bill; son, Jacy, and his wife Sandra; and two grandsons, Liam, and Kofi.
Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Martha Sue Jones.
