Mary Alice Newmons' Obituary
Mary Alice (Pantley) Newmons, 85, of Okahumpka, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 4, 2013. Mrs. Newmons was born April 8, 1928 in Yalaha, the daughter of George and Alice (Upplegger) Pantley. She began a 38 year career as an operator with Florida Telephone and retired with United Telephone. She was a member of the Yalaha Community Church, the Otto Wettstein Pioneer Club and had volunteered as a pink lady with the Leesburg High School. Survivors include her sons, Allen (Lynn) Newmons of Wildwood and Stephen Newmons of Yalaha; sisters, Flora (Lou) Adkison of Suwanee, GA and Rosie (Doyle) Newmons of Apopka; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Newmons was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Leonard and two sisters, Georgia Reynolds and Minnie Adkinson. Visitation for Mrs. Newmons will be held 10:00–11:00 am, Wednesday, December 4, 2013 with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am in the Page-Theus Chapel with Dr. Alan Holden officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778 or Midway Baptist Church, 32707 Blossom Lane, Leesburg, FL 34788.
