Mary Ellen Logsdon's Obituary
Mary Ellen Logsdon age 91, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 in Ocala, Florida. Mary Ellen was born in Thomas, West Virginia and moved to the Ocala area in 2011 from Glen Burnie, MD where she spent most of her life. She was a resident at the Chambrel at Pine Castle Assisted Living Facility (Brookdale) and made many great friendships with her fellow residents and staff members. She was a Registered Nurse and worked for the Veteran’s Administration for over 40 years. She was pre-deceased by her parents Joseph and Marguerite Logsdon and her twin sister Rose Marie Grimes and her nephew Andy Semesco. Mary Ellen will be remembered by her friends and family for her cheerfulness and her jovial disposition, as she always had an amusing story or witty joke which she conveyed with the proficiency that could only come from an Irish storyteller. She was a skilled artist and loved painting landscapes and places of her childhood she found special. She was rarely idle and even when she wasn’t busy could be found doing her needle crafts. She also enjoyed the “Theatrical Arts” attending plays and shows throughout her life. When asked about her favorite hobbies, without hesitation she would respond playing cards! She loved to play cards with family and friends and right to the end was competitive and skillful.
She is survived by her loving family - nieces Peggy (Steve) Semesco, Ocala, FL; Mary Rose (Buddy) Axton, Clarksburg, WV; great nephews and nieces – David (Amy), Keith, and Caroline (Tommy); great-great niece – Ruby; great-great nephew Jack and her devoted cat Heidi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on 10:00 A. M. Tuesday at the Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Ocala, Florida. Mary Ellen will be interred at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
Mary Ellen requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in her name to the Andrew J. Semesco Cancer Research Foundation P. O. Box 5577, Ocala, Florida 34478.
