Mary A. (Jowanowitch) Land, 92Leominster – Mary A. (Jowanowitch) Land, 92, died Saturday, November 20th, 2010 at Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster.Mary’s husband, Joseph Walter Land, died in 1992. She leaves a son, Joseph W. Land II, of Ashburnham; a daughter, Florence M. Johnson and her husband Woodward of Ashburnham; a grandson Jeffery A. Canupp and his wife Cindy of Windsor Mill, Maryland; a granddaughter Pamela M. Vacek and her husband Ted of Pasadena, Maryland; a granddaughter M. Cher Boutwell and her husband Rick of Ashburnham; a grandson Daniel L. Johnson of Westminster; twelve great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Eva (Thom) Jowanowitch, a dear friend “Aunt” Florence D. Murray; seven brothers, a granddaughter Carrie M. Bolling, and a great-grandson Joshua M. Vacek. She was born in Glen Burnie, Maryland and graduated from Glen Burnie High School. She worked as a sales clerk for Hoschild Kohn Department store in Glen Burnie, Maryland for many years before retiring in Lady Lake, Florida. There she taught the “Doll-fins” pool exercise group for more than sixteen years, participated in numerous activities and sang in the choir at St. Timothy’s Church. As a former resident of Westminster she enjoyed bingo, activities at the Senior Center and attending St. Edwards Church. Most recent, she was a member of the Holy Family Church in Leominster. Throughout her life she enjoyed cooking, gardening and always kept a beautiful, welcoming home. Above all, Mary was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother who found her greatest joy in her family. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the kind staff at Sunrise Assisted Living for the excellent care they provided for Mary.
