Marguerite W Reardon's Obituary
Marguerite “Peg” Reardon, 101, passed into the Lord’s arms on September 19, 2022 surrounded by loving family.
Born in Washington DC, she graduated from Eastern High School and promptly went to work for the U S Government. In 1940 she married the love of her life, Dick Reardon, and their union lasted 62 years. While he served in the USMC during WWII, Peg continued working and waited for war’s end. After the war, they started their family.
Seeking new opportunities and relief from cold and snow, the family moved to South Florida in 1956. Peg enjoyed being a mother, a gardener, and a flourishing artist in both watercolor and oils. As her children grew, she worked as a florist at the Boca Raton Hotel and Club for many years. In later years, she was a retail clerk at Jordan Marsh department store.
Upon retirement, she and Dick traveled extensively throughout the country in their RV. Traveling from coast to coast they enjoyed many of the wonders in the USA. Along with bowling, they also took up square dancing, which was a much enjoyed activity. Even after Dick’s death, Peg square danced into her nineties. Her final years were spent at Lake Port Square, where she gathered numerous friends.
She is survived by her son, Patrick Reardon (JoAnn) and daughter Susan Lamp (Bob Taylor). Her daughter, Elizabeth Van Lennep predeceased her earlier this year. Two grandchildren Lisa Adams (Kristin Hardy) and Ryan Murphy (Amanda) gave her great joy along with great grandchildren Marina Lewis (Sam) and Seth, and a great, great grandchild Colton Lewis.
Her long, charmed life can be summed up by saying “She never met a stranger”.
