Margaret A. Brunet's Obituary
Margaret Brunet
December 30, 1938 – June 19, 2017
Leesburg, FL
Margaret Brunet (née Delabo), 78, of Leesburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 19, 2017.
Margaret was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 30, 1938 to the late Joseph and Anne Delabo. After graduating from Dominican Commercial High School, a premier business school for girls in New York City, Margaret worked as an executive assistant for Kemp & Beatley, a manufacturer of fine table linens. During this time, she met the love of her life, the late Joseph R. Brunet, at a Catholic youth dance. The young couple moved upstate and raised their sons, Michael, James and Paul, in Wappingers Falls, NY. She taught us much about overcoming our fears and persistence. She learned how to swim, took classes at the community college, and filled the house with the results of countless craft projects. Margaret was especially active in her church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and Eucharistic minister for many years. Margaret retired from the local school district where she assisted students in the computer lab.
Upon arriving in Leesburg, Margaret committed herself fully to helping others. She fulfilled a lifelong dream to become a clown (Gemzee) and brought laughter and love to those most in need. She cherished the time spent with her prayer group partners and dear friends in Legacy and surrounding communities.
Margaret is survived by her brother, James E. Delabo, Brewster, NY; along with her three sons and spouses, Michael J. Brunet, Oakton VA, James R. Brunet and Greta C. Brunet, Apex, NC, and Paul E. Brunet and Jeanne Brunet, Brookfield, CT; and five grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Allison, Braedon and Rylan.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, June 24, 2017, 8:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, Leesburg, Florida. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Page-Theus Funeral Home, 914 West Main St., Leesburg, Florida.
Memorials may be made in honor of Margaret to a charity of one's choice.
