Lya Ann Ellis' Obituary
Lya Ann Ellis, of Leesburg, FL, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025.
Lya was born in Griffith, IN to her parents Emory and Helen Ballard in 1931. She would later go on to marry the love of her life, Merl Ellis and they would spend the next 64 years together before his passing.
She enjoyed playing cards and dancing jitterbug with her daughter, Dona . She also loved her dog, Logan. Lya was a big fan of Patsy Cline and would often sing her favorite song, "Crazy".
Lya is survived by her children, David E. Ellis and daughter, Dona (Dede) D. Bafia (Mark A. Bafia); her sisters, Dona Dixeson and Phillis Brown; grandchildren, Lacey Woerpel, Mark Bafia and Elliott Bafia; great-grandchildren, Dylan Woerpel, Noah Woerpel and Summer; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lya is preceded in death by her loving husband, Merl Ellis and her sister, Helen Knerr.
