" Today is the day I say Farewell to a life long piece of my heart.
On Sunday, Sept. 8th, Granny felt it was her time to depart.

Peacefully she went to meet with her Heavenly Father above,
She left with us a legacy of memories filled with love.

Saddness grips my heart and tears fill my eyes,
As I look here at my family and do my best not to cry.

Everyone will miss her and no one can take her place,
Just take comfort in knowing she left for Gods Heavenly Grace.

So with peace in my soul and all the tears dried,
I can finally say Goodbye......

For now I can turn around and say Hello to the Angel at my side!"

Thank you Granny for all the love, memories & sweetness you brought to my life. You will be greatly missed physically but I know all I have to do is turn to my side & youll be right there. Now you are Gods Angel as well as mine! I love you!

When I think of Granny, I will remember the little things. The way she held a Kleenex, the way she loved on all the babies and would get excited by their “chunky” legs, her chicken n dumplings, her nightgowns and her sweet scent. I could list many more ways she will forever be placed in my memories but, the most important memory I will always treasure is the way Granny loved the Lord.

I can remember spending the night with Granny and Papa Ivan and before we went to sleep, she would always end our day by reading the Bible and sharing with me that she had read it through a few times already and I know she was very proud of that.
The pictures that have hung in her homes of the praying couple with their bible is a fixture in my mind. I can remember seeing those pictures in the house on Mahoney and in her most recent home.

My granny had a smile that would melt my heart. I always loved to go and sit on the porch with her and Papa Ivan with a sweet tea, grilled cheese, and the “Price is Right” on the TV only if the Braves weren’t playing on TV. Papa would be at the table doing a crossword puzzle and Granny would be in the wicker rocker just chatting away with me. The porch was the place where everyone gathered. I don’t remember using the living room that often unless it was for a holiday.

I know that she is having a ball with Papa Carl in Heaven. I can only imagine the stories they are sharing with one another and all the catching up they have to do. He has waited quite a while for his bride to come home. My heart is breaking for the loss of Granny but it is also rejoicing in the fact that she is at peace where she will forever be in the arms of Papa and our Savior.

To quote from one of my favorite songs, “Homesick” by Mercy Me:
“In Christ, there are no goodbyes and in Christ, there is no end
So I’ll hold onto Jesus with all that I have to see you again.”
