Lois Carlson Hosmer's Obituary
Lois Carlson Hosmer, 91, of Lady Lake, FL, took the hand of the Lord on August 22, 2023, to reside on the brighter side of His kingdom. Through her final days she was surrounded by her loving family, friends new and old, and the compassionate care of Vitas Hospice and the staff at Freedom Pointe Place. Hers was a beautiful conclusion to a faithful, blessed life.
Lois was born in Warren, PA, on May 28, 1932, to loving parents, Arthur W. and Evelyn H. Carlson. She grew up and lived in western Pennsylvania until 1987 when her husband, Richard, retired and they moved to the Plantation in Leesburg. In 2005, the couple moved into Lake Port Square and eventually to Lady Lake in 2018.
Lois was raised in a household of faith and connected with God through various churches all through her life. Most recently she loved worshipping the Lord at North Lake Presbyterian Church where her son serves as pastor. Lois delighted in maintaining long-term friendships as well as making new friends; she would walk on to an elevator with one friend and walk off with three friends. In earlier years she enjoyed fishing in Canada, camping, refinishing antique furniture, playing bridge, and travel. But she would always acknowledge that the focus of her life was her family.
Lois is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Hosmer. Together they forged a great marriage of more than 72 years and became a joyful, resourceful tandem. They welcomed to this world and blessed three children: Jeffrey (married to Bobbi), Jodi (married to Greg), and Cindi (preceded Lois in death in 2012). Lois was preceded in death also by three sisters (Jean, LaVonne, Janet). Lois’ survivors include an older brother, Stanley Lantz of Butler, PA, seven adoring grandchildren, and thirteen precious great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate Lois’ life and resurrection is planned for Saturday, October 28, at 11:00 AM at North Lake Presbyterian Church (975 Rolling Acres Road, Lady Lake, FL, 32159) with a luncheon reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to North Lake Presbyterian Church.
