Leatrice "Lee" Mondshein's Obituary
On Monday, May 4, 2020, Lee J. Mondshein, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away at the age of 85.
Lee J Mondshein was born on May 22, 1934 to Abraham Lipkin and Jean (Diamond) Lipkin in Brooklyn, New York. She had a sister named Marilyn. At the age of 18, she met the love of her life, Burton (Burt) Charles Mondshein. The pair were inseparable, and married in May of 1952. Lee was a secretary at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, a university that her husband was a vice president. Lee also worked with Burt in interior design and architecture, with their company CSD Interiors, Inc.
Lee loved butterflies. She loved the beauty and freedom that they supplied, often admiring their independence. When Lee walked into a room, her beauty, presence, and smile made everyone get a sense of joy. She loved to dance, and enjoyed those times when she would go “out steppin” with Burt. She loved to sing, and would sing to her grandchildren when they came to visit.
Lee and Burt had three sons; Curtis, Scott, and Daniel, all spaced five years apart. They were strong in their Jewish faith.
Lee lost the love of her life on December 24, 2014, after Burt’s long battle with cancer. The pair were married for sixty two and a half years, and not a day went by that they were not side by side. After his passing, Lee moved to Orlando, Florida to be closer to her youngest son, Daniel, and his wife and daughter. They took care of her until she started her new stage as a butterfly up in Heaven on May 4, 2020.
Lee is survived by her three sons; Curt Mondshein and his wife Kathy, Scott Mondshein, and Daniel Mondshein and his wife Ronda. She has two nieces, Harlene and Sharon and a nephew Lloyd, four grandchildren, Andrea, Kelli, Michael, and Nichole, and two great grandchildren, Jena and Kaitlyn.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 1:00PM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg, Florida. The address is 1901 County Rd 25A, Leesburg, FL 34748. Services will be performed by Rabbi Solomon.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the salvation army in her loving memory.
