I just got my periodic magazine from Paul Smiths College and was extremely saddened to read that Kurt had pass on.
I was one of his classmates at Paul Smith College and remember him well. Our class had some very interesting alumni, many of whom have dome extremely well, it was rather a unique class, very serious and focused on the industry knowing all of the potential and various directions that the industry could take us. I did very well and I have many memories.
Aside from Paul Smiths College, Kurt and I had a mutual friend, Bob Dietz.
A long time resident of Washington, DC as a very successful hotel marketing and sales executive, initially with Stouffers.
When ever we were together, he and always spoke of Kurt and Bob always spoke very well of his old friend. All our friendships go back to beginning in the late 60's for me and then more so from the early 70's with Bob.
Bob retired to San Diego and opened a very successful photo and film developing shop for small movie studios in California. He is no longer with us but I am sure that he kept in touch with Kurt.
I hate loosing my friends, alumni, business associates, neighbors, mentors. It is something that regularly saddens me more than I ever would have known about myself. I guess that is the price we pay for love.
My sincere condolences, . . . albeit late, I wish to express to his family and all of his friends, alumni, associates who knew and now miss him.
D. Peter Petrakis (Kurt knew mw as Deni)
