Kathryn "Betty" Hammond's Obituary
Kathryn “Betty” Hammond, 86, of Fruitland Park, FL passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024.
Betty was born in Miami, FL to the late Ben Thomas Hanson and Kathryn Victoria (Adams) Hanson on February 1, 1938.
Betty met her husband, William “Bill” Hammond Jr. at the corner drug store in Miami, FL. They were married on February 25, 1956, and enjoyed 66 years together until Bills’ passing in 2022. They created a beautiful life together, including Betty being a stay-at-home mother to their children, Glenn & Wendi. Later in life, she went to work for Publix as a Cashier and eventually became the Store Trainer. She enjoyed traveling with her sister Anne, collecting antiques, gardening, cooking family meals, and loved setting up Christmas displays during the holidays.
Betty was dedicated to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grand-daughters, Lena & Ashley.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and husband. She is survived by her brother, Percy (spouse, Erlene); son, Glenn; her daughter, Wendi (spouse, Michele); her grand-daughter, Lena; grand-daughter, Ashley (spouse, Diego); in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
The Hammond family will be receiving guests on Saturday, August 24 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at Page-Theus Funeral Home (914 W. Main St, Leesburg, FL), for a visitation celebration of life.
Betty’s final resting place will be with her late husband, Bill, at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
