Joseph L. LaHood's Obituary
Joseph L. LaHood, 85, of Leesburg, FL, went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2025.
Born in Danbury, CT, he was the son of the late Louis and Marjorie LaHood (née Bingel). As a teenager, Joe moved with his family to West Covina, California, where he would meet his future wife, Sharon Eads. Joe and Sharon married in 1960 and had two children – daughter Tammy and son Joseph. Several years later, the young family made the cross-country move back to Connecticut, where Joe would manage the Huntington estate and subsequently work for the National Parks Service. A new job with New England Telephone eventually led to a move to Maine, where Joe spent the remainder of his career before retiring at age 55. One of his dreams was to retire early and see the world, and for the next three decades that’s what he did – traveling with Sharon to every continent and countries too numerous to mention. At home, Joe was an avid gardener and birdwatcher and enjoyed playing games with friends. He lived a full life.
Joe was predeceased by his father and mother, and his older brother Louis. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Sharon; daughter Tammy Wagner (Paul); son Joseph LaHood (Karen); grandchildren Stephannie Brown (Jeremy), Patrick Wagner (Danielle) and Brittney LaHood; great-grandchildren Chance Brooks, Myles Perry, Remington Wagner, Luka Perry, and Madeleine Wagner.
Joe is also survived by sisters Mariann O’Brien (Frank), Linda Benedict (Richard), Nancy Negri (Rob), and Marilyn Angelicola; brothers Jimmy (Phyllis) and Tommy (Colleen); and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
