My favorite memory of Dr Elmer is the day he delivered a baby in his bow tie and a pair of gloves. She was young and it was her first. It was early labor. She was SUPPOSED to take hours. However, baby had other plans. 15 minutes after he left to make rounds he was back in OB just in time to don a pair of gloves and deliver a beautiful baby girl. He looked up, cool as a cucumber and said “ Well. I don’t often get to deliver one in my bow tie.” He was a great doc and a sweet man, and he was good to his patients.
