John D. Mitchell, 96, Leesburg, Florida went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2021 at University of Florida Health Leesburg, Leesburg, Florida. John was born on March 9, 1925 in Shiloh, New Jersey to his parents, Edward H. Mitchell and Jessie M. (Mickel) Mitchell. He was a retired Plant Manager in the paper products manufacturing Industry for The American Can Company. John started his career in the Paper Manufacturing industry working for The Dixie Company. He and his loving wife moved to Leesburg in 1999 from Homosassa, Florida. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Leesburg, Florida. John was a proud Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army Air Corps. He had also served for a brief time in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. John is survived by his two loving sons: Jeffrey D. Mitchell of Chipley, FL and Dale Mitchell and his wife Eileen of Ft. Myers, FL; a daughter-in-law: Mary Ann Mitchell of (City and State); three grandchildren: Meredith Barnes, Erica Mitchell and Wesley Mitchell; a great-granddaughter: Harper Lynn Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Eugenia Mitchell, and a loving son, David B. Mitchell. Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 11:00AM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell with military honors. He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Eugenia.
