John Dudleigh Lapham's Obituary
John Dudleigh Lapham, 77, passed away in Leesburg, Florida on April 25.
The son of the late Robert Dudleigh Lapham and Sarita Bennett Lapham, he was born in Mineola, NY but spent much of his formative years at public school in Britain, and from that base enjoyed visiting many countries across Europe, where he especially enjoyed the many summers with his parents and sister in the south of France. He moved to Canada in 1969, was married twice, to Sheila Pauline McMurray and to Elizabeth Anne.
John spent the last dozen years of his life enjoying the sun and warmth in Florida where he resided among many new friends there in Leesburg. He was preceded in death by son John Paul and daughter Janey Marie Bennett, both of Barrie, Ontario and leaves behind his daughter Tracy Leigh Lapham also of Barrie and grandchildren Genevieve Kiff, Tracey Lapham, Jonn Lapham and Kalin Collins; his brother Robert Bennett Lapham of Panama City, Florida and sister Sarita Lapham Moffat of Middleburg, Virginia.
Internment of one-half of his ashes next to one-half of Elizabeth’s ashes will be held at a private service at the family plot at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford, Connecticut. The other half of his ashes will be laid to rest, again next to Elizabeth at Grace United Church Cemetery in Perretton, Ontario.
