Mr. John S. Hunter's Obituary
John Snow Hunter, born July 7, 1917 (age 95), passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Lake Harris Health Center, Leesburg, Florida. John was born in Chester, PA and moved to the Leesburg community of Hawthorne in 1978. Upon graduating from Dexter University School of Engineering in Philadelphia, PA. he served in the U.S. Army. He later was assigned to Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio and as a civil engineer worked in the aerospace programs.
He was a longtime member of the Morrison United Methodist Church in Leesburg. John will be remembered by his family and friends as a ballroom dancer and International folk dance teacher with his wife Marjorie (deceased in 1988) He enjoyed swimming and sailing his boat on Lake Harris.
He is survived by his daughter – Candace Rae (John) Hill – Crossville, TN; Son- David (Alexis) Shurte – Beaver Creek, OH; Grandchildren – Lori Shurte-Bolt; Kelly Stacey; Matt Shurte; and Ericka Newman and seven great grandchildren and one great, great grandson.
John was well respected and following his wishes his services will be simple and private. All arrangements are under the careful direction of Page-Theus Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Leesburg, Florida.
