Joan Maxine Ellis' Obituary
Joan Maxine Ellis, 96, of Leesburg, Florida passed away on December 23, 2019. She was born on August 9, 1923 in St. Louis, Michigan to the late Vera and Max Burnham. Joan was a beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be truly missed by everyone she met.
Joan is most proud of her tenure as a curator of County Park in Michigan, which she has successfully built up from the ground. When Joan wasn’t working, she enjoyed spending time with family, and she was also a very devoted member to her church in Sarasota. Joan is survived by her three sons; Larry Collin (Sandy), Carl Collin (Deborah), and Max Collin (Debbie), 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends.
Joan is preceded in death by her late husband Donald Ellis of 19 years, as well as her previous husband of 27 years, Hubert Collin, her three sisters; Ruth Pullman, Lorna Dershem, and Rosemarie Aumaugher. A celebration of Life for Joan will be held in the Spring in Michigan. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice.
