Jerry Allen Ross' Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Allen Ross, a beloved husband, father, father in law and saba (grandfather). Jerry passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday, January 29, in Orlando, Florida. He was 76 years young.
Jerry was born on May 27, 1949, in Atlanta Georgia, and was raised primarily in Savanah, and Jessup Georgia. He later moved to Statesboro, where he attended Georgia Southern University. After earning his degree, Jerry relocated to Atlanta to pursue a master’s degree in accounting at Georgia State University. A highly accomplished Certified Public Accountant, Jerry had a lifelong passion for mathematics and learning.
Jerry loved to travel and had a deep appreciation for experiencing new cultures and seeing the world. He and his wife, Barbara, shared many memorable adventures together over the years.
An avid golfer, Jerry found great joy on the golf course. You could frequently find him playing four to five days a week, where he especially loved the social aspect of the game—spending time golfing with friends and sharing many enjoyable rounds with his wife, Barbara. The camaraderie, laughter, and time together meant just as much to him as the game itself.
Jerry was also a devoted sports fan who enthusiastically supported the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta United. At home, it was not uncommon to find him listening to a Georgia Bulldogs podcast and keeping up with the latest sports news.
Jerry had a deep and abiding love for animals, especially his beloved dog, Khaleesi. Each evening, Jerry could be found relaxing in his recliner with Khaleesi curled up beside him, sharing quiet moments and cuddles that meant the world to him.
Jerry will be remembered for his kindness, patience, and thoughtful nature. He loved his family deeply, enjoyed listening to rock music and dancing, and was a wonderful listener who always offered sound advice and steady wisdom.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Ross; his 2 brothers Stan and Scott Ross, his daughter, Sydni Smooha, his son in law Nathan Smooha and his cherished grandson, Micah Smooha.
A funeral service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held on Sunday, February 1, at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in the Garden of David section in Leesburg, Florida.
